Product Description

Grado Laboratories, and their founder Joseph Grado are renowned for their history in the high-end audio community. The Sunset Park Brooklyn based pioneers of the art are responsible for defining what audiophile quality should sound like. From their first phono cartridge in 1953, to their newest in-ear monitor, Grado Labs are known for setting the standard that manufacturers aspire to - and professionals crave. Being that Grado and AC Gears are both born in NYC, it's a match made in heaven.

The Grado Family assembles their headphones by hand in their Brooklyn facility, constantly working to perfect each model by applying their skilled craftsmanship to advancements in the field. Each iteration of their products represent a significant step forward in reproducing the Grado sound. This latest step is now represented by the e-Series; the third generation of Grado headphones. Each component, surface, and material used in the e Series has been upgraded from previous models to improve on dynamics and fidelity. Rhodium is employed to prevent corrosion of connectors, and unwanted graininess in your audio. Driver design has also been updated, utilizing 6 decades of experience to create their most refined driver geometry. A fine tuned magnetic field enhances symmetry throughout the full range of the voice coil. Even the glue is new, both lighter and more reliable.

The most easily recognized headphones by Grado come from their line of Reference headphones. The iconic headphones are hand crafted with a Mahogany wood housing, which now undergoes a new proprietary curing process to enhance its natural resonance. The RS2e is the little brother to the RS1e, crafted to offer a similar musicality and depth of the older model in a smaller, lighter package. Inside, the RS2 utilizes a massive 44mm driver and utilizes the new e Series 8 conductor cable design.

As part of the Reference Series, the RS2i are optimized for critical listening. It's best driven with an amplifier such as the Grado RA1 Reference Headphone Amp, and used with loss-less audio, or an analogue source. While we recommend these headphones for all types of music, the open back nature of the headphone means that they will leak sound in and out. They are not well suited for overly loud environments or traveling. The 1/4" stereo plug does not fit a standard 3.5mm jack, and requires an adapter for such use.
