Grado Laboratories, and their founder Joseph Grado are renowned for their history in the high-end audio community. The Sunset Park Brooklyn based pioneers of the art are responsible for defining what audiophile quality should sound like. From their first phono cartridge in 1953, to their newest in-ear monitor, Grado Labs are known for setting the standard that manufacturers aspire to - and professionals crave. Being that Grado and AC Gears are both born in NYC, it's a match made in heaven.

The Grado Family assembles their headphones by hand in their Brooklyn facility, constantly working to perfect each model by applying their skilled craftsmanship to advancements in the field. Each iteration of their products represent a significant step forward in reproducing the Grado sound. This latest step is now represented by the e-Series; the third generation of Grado headphones. Each component, surface, and material used in the e Series has been upgraded from previous models to improve on dynamics and fidelity. Rhodium is employed to prevent corrosion of connectors, and unwanted graininess in your audio. Driver design has also been updated, utilizing 6 decades of experience to create their most refined driver geometry. A fine tuned magnetic field enhances symmetry throughout the full range of the voice coil. Even the glue is new, both lighter and more reliable.

Near the top of their Prestige Series is the SR225e, with clear distinctions from the SR125e, both sonic and physical. Externally, the SR225e come standard with Grado's L-cushion earpads. With zero obstruction between the housing and your ears, and rear airflow through a metal screen the SR225e gives your audio all of the breathing room it needs to perform unhindered. The closely matched drivers give you a broad soundstage that puts you right in the middle of Carnegie Hall. As with every headphone in the e Series, the brand new components further enhance the features already present in each previous iteration. The new driver, cable and plastic housing reinforce Grado's controlled sound, with a tight bottom end and crystal clear highs that don't intrude on the brand's signature midrange.

While we recommend these headphones for all types of music, the open back nature of the headphone means that they will leak sound in and out. They are not well suited for overly loud environments or air travel. They sound best during in home monitoring.
