Product Description

Saving the world one lamp at a time, the SolarPuff Solar-Helix Solar Lantern is innovative, inspiring and essential. Invented by Alice Min Soo Chun, the SolarPuff is a foldable solar powered light created in response to the crisis following the Haiti Earthquake in 2010 to be used as an alternative to Kerosene lamps.

It was designed with sustainable and high-performance fabric specifically engineered for durability, flexibility and water resistance. It floats and can withstand complete immersion under water. It is perfect for emergencies, camping, hiking, boating as a night light and more.

While 1.6 billion people in the world rely on Kerosene for light, it is both dangerous and expensive to the families that use it. Two million children are killed each year from fumes, and it costs up to 30% of the household income for those without electricity. The SolarPuff was created as an environmentally friendly and cheap alternative.

The SolarPuff is charged during the day in direct sunlight, then used at night. For as many hours as you charge it in the sun, it will provide light for just as long. It is compact, and light weight to be shipped easily in mass quantities to those in need. Inspired by Origami, it was designed to be beautiful, because beauty is just as important in the third world as it is here in the first.

Sales of SolarPuffs furthers a social mission to distribute light in 3rd world and underdeveloped regions such as Asia and Sub Saharan Africa. When a customer buys a SolarPuff at $30.00 U.S. it allows Solight Design to subsidize a SolarPuff to someone in an developing region.
